Adhir convoy runs into black-flag protest in Murshidabad
Murshidabad: Congress’ Lok Sabha leader and Behrampore MP Adhir Chowdhury was caught in a jam in Murshidabad’s Raninagar on Friday when a group of villagers, suspected to be Trinamool supporters, mobbed his convoy and waved black flags at him.
The convoy was held up for about half an hour amid “go back” slogans, signalling winds of change in the former “Adhir Chowdhury fort”.
The Congress leader was heading to Godhanpara village in Raninagar II block following an SOS on Thursday that local Trinamool workers had ransacked Congress activist Jhadu Mandal’s house and attacked houses of some others.
Chowdhury wrote to CM Mamata Banerjee seeking her intervention to stop “violence and atrocities” on Congress workers.
Local Trinamool leaders denied a hand in the Raninagar incident.
