LUCKNOW: A resident of Unnao was arrested on Wednesday for drugging and looting a car and other valuables from a Barabanki man in Malihabad.
The victim was later traced and a case was lodged at Para police station on Tuesday night.
The police launched a manhunt and nabbed the accused and recovered the car.
The accused was identified as
Ram Kumar Singh of Makhi locality in Unnao.
The victim was identified as
Mohammed Zafar of Barabanki.
ACP, Kakori, Ashutosh Kumar, who led the probe, said
Zafar had a taxi car which he used to ply on rent.
“On Monday, the accused identified as
Ram Kumar got the car booked for a travel to Unnao and both left for the destination On the way, they stopped at a dhaba where Ram Kumar and Zafar took lunch,” said Kumar.
Zafar alleged that Ram Kumar spiked his tea with some sedatives. “I felt drowsiness and Ram Kumar took the steering wheel asking me to sit beside him at the front seat. On the way, he threw me down and sped off with the car, my two mobile phones and Rs 5,000 in cash,” he said.
He said when he regained consciousness he realised that he was on
Lucknow-Agra Expressway.
He later managed to contact his brother
Mohamed Akbar and narrated the ordeal and informed the police.
“We registered a case in this connection and started a manhunt for the accused. A team later nabbed the accused who admitted to his crime. He disclosed that he changed the registration number plate of the car to conceal his crime and confessed that he lured the victim to go via Malihabad and later offered him food at the dhaba,” said the ACP.
