26,200 test positive for Covid in Kerala, test positivity rate at 16.69%

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state on Thursday recorded 26,200 Covid positive cases and 29,209 recoveries. The test positivity rate (TPR) is 16.69%, as per the official statistics released by the state health department.
As many as 125 Covid deaths have been recorded, taking the toll to 22,126. As many as 1,56,957 samples were tes- ted on Thursday, taking the total number of tests to 3,29,98,816.
Thrissur reported the highest cases with 3,279, followed by Ernakulam (3,175), Thiruvananthapuram (2,598), Malappuram (2,452), Kozhikode (2,332), Kollam (2,124), Palakkad (1,996), Alappuzha (1,604), Kottayam (1,580), Kannur (1,532), Pathanamthitta (1,244), Wayanad (981), Idukki (848) and Kasaragod (455).
While 24,999 persons got the disease through contact, the source of 1,006 persons is unknown. As many as 114 health workers also tested Covid-19 on this day.
There are 6,08,450 persons currently under observation. Of this, 5,75,731 are in house/institutional quarantine, and 32,719 are in hospitals.
Meanwhile, a Covid-19 review meeting on Thursday claimed that 77.42% of the population (2,22,18,734) above 18 years have received at least one vaccine dose till Thursday evening. Similarly, 29.70% of people (85,22,932) above 18 years have received two vaccine doses.
93% above 45 yrs receive first vaccine dose
An age-wise statistic shows that over 93% above 45 years have received at least one vaccine dose. 50% in this age group are fully vaccinated. Meanwhile, the state received 9.55 lakh vaccine doses on Thursday. This includes eight lakh Covishield doses and 1,55,290 Covaxin doses.
