Noida to give Swachh City awards on Oct 2
Noida: The Noida Authority will give Swachh City awards in eight categories this year too. The last date for registration to participate in the competition is September 15 and the awards will be given on October 2. Meanwhile, the Authority has floated a toll-free number for complaints related to garbage disposal.
In the Noida Swachh City awards, apart from residents welfare associations, apartment complexes and villages, educational institutions, hotels, hospitals, market associations and government offices will also participate.
Last year, the Authority gave awards to 39 establishments for following best practises and disposing of their waste in an efficient manner.
While sharing their details, the participants will have to provide the total population their initiatives are catering to in the form. The link to Google Docs has been shared over the Twitter handle of the Noida Authority.
Senior project manager (public health) of the Authority, SC Mishra said, “Some elder residents have cited difficulty in providing all the details and documents online. Hence we have given an option of providing the hard copies at the Sector 39 office of the Authority. Offline entries will also be accepted this time.”
General secretary of the Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Associations, Rajesh Sahay said that the link of the form will be shared with office-bearers of the housing societies to ensure increased participation and citizen engagement this year.
Meanwhile, to tackle complaints of poor garbage disposal, the Authority has set up a toll-free helpline number (18001807995). Though the Authority has hired AG Enviro for door-to-door garbage collection, residents keep bringing their issues to the notice of the officials.
“If repeated complaints come, the Authority will contemplate imposing penalty on the agency,” Mishra said.
