HYDERABAD: A man was bludgeoned to death and his body set ablaze in an open land in a village in Karimnagar allegedly over sexual rivalry. While cops have picked two suspects, the two main accused are still on the run. Six police teams have been formed to investigate the case and look for the fugitives.
The victim, S Santosh (39), a sand transport worker, had left home in Vilasagar village on Sunday around 6pm soon after getting a phone call.
The family began looking for him when he didn’t come till late in the night, police said.
The night-long search finally bore fruit and Santosh’s bike was found parked near a road at Venkateshwarpally near Vilasagar on Monday.
Police: Victim’s second cellphone missing
Half a kilometre away from the road, in an open land, the partially burnt body of the victim was found in flames. Santosh was bludgeoned to death and his body was later set ablaze,” Karimnagar commissioner V Satyanarayana said.
A partially burnt mobile phone of the victim was found at the crime scene, but his second cellphone is still missing, cops said. The victim is survived by wife and three children.
As the area falls under Huzurabad constituency, which is currently the political hotbed in the state, police verified Santosh’s political affiliations and found that he has been a TRS supporter.

The six special teams are being supervised by the commissioner and the two suspects were picked from Vilasagar and Jammikunta. “The suspects claimed that sexual jealousy was the reason for the murder. We have to nab the two main accused,” said a cop probing the case.
Police have registered a murder case and the body has been sent for postmortem.
