LUCKNOW: With Cocomelon back to school video songs playing, teachers armed with balloons and flowers welcomed the pre-primary students who entered the campus wearing colourful masks of their favourite cartoon characters.
While girl students were seen wearing fancy Minnie Mouse hairbands, boys had Ben 10 watches on school uniform as the Montessori, nursery, and kindergarten students were back to the school campus after almost 18 months on Monday.

A number of schools not only gave a colourful look to the classrooms but also made sure to keep some games and selfie-corners ready for students. On the first day of pre-primary school, an average of 55 to 60% of students turned up at various schools across the city.
“I immediately gave consent for sending my ward to school as it was necessary for his growth. Due to two years of no offline school, my child had become too obstinate and aggressive,” said a parent Asaweri Yadav. She said he was happy to see children and not ready to go back home now.
Another parent said, “Online classes are of no use as a child below 8 years of age doesn’t sit for classes. Also, an increase in screen time is taxing for their eyes and overall health,” said Monis Khan, a parent.
President of the Unaided Private Schools Association Anil Agarwal said, “Students were happy to be back to school. On average 55 % attendance was recorded in pre-primary classes on the first day of physical classes.”
