CHANDIGARH: Hitting out at Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh over his plea to farmers farmers to shift their protest out of Punjab, Haryana BJP chief Om Prakash Dhankar and home minister Anil Vij on Tuesday accused him of conspiring to derail the economy of Haryana.
Terming Capt Amarinder’s statement to the representatives of various farm unions to not hold protests against the three central farm laws in the state but to protest in Delhi or Haryana along with farmers from other states as a deep-rooted conspiracy to derail the economy of Haryana, Dhankar claimed it had exposed the Congress party as well as Punjab CM Amarinder Singh.

“Now, the Punjab CM and those behind the farmers agitation, especially Congress party, stand exposed. This is the most unfortunate and irresponsible statement one can make publicly, especially when it comes to law and order situation and economy of a state,” he said.
Dhankar even blamed the farmers protest for inroads made by the drug mafia in villages of Rohtak, Sonipat, Jhajjar and other districts. Dhankar called the growing drug addiction in the three districts and villages around Tikri, Singhu and Rai an outcome of the presence of drug mafia who are using farm protests as their trade ground.
“Protests are a democratic rights... But, we have seen this state-sponsored protest for the first time. We urge the Punjab chief minister to do some introspection and not even dare to think about derailing the economy of Haryana,” he said.
“Today, our industrial areas of Bahadurgarh, Rai and Sonipat are almost on the verge of closure. Industrialist are not able to meet the expenses of their daily life. Workers are laid off. All this is due to Amarinder Singh and Congress,” he alleged.
Later, Haryana home and health minister Anil Vij and education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar also termed Amarinder’s appeal to farmers as irresponsible. “I don’t think that the Punjab CM has acted responsibly. This clearly shows that he is the only person behind the entire situation in Haryana. But, I am confident that the people of Haryana , especially the farmers, will give a befitting reply,’’ said Vij.
