JAMMU: Newly appointed Director General (DG) of Border Security Force (
BSF) Pankaj Kumar Singh on Thursday visited the forward areas of
Samba and
Kathua districts along the international border under its
Jammu Frontier. He is on a two-day visit to Jammu.
A BSF spokesperson said the DG arrived in Jammu on Thursday afternoon and took stock of the security situation, besides holding meetings with the senior officers of the Jammu Frontier.
“Accompanied by NS Jamwal, IG, BSF, Jammu Frontier, and other officers, the DG reviewed the overall deployment of the force and its domination plan. The DG visited the critical areas of Basantar river, Tarnha Nallah, Bain Nallah and other areas of Samba, Kathua and Hiranagar and held discussion with sector/unit commanders on the ground.”
Jamwal briefed the DG about the complexities of the management of Jammu border under current scenario, the spokesperson said.
He added that the DG also interacted with jawans and was full of praise for them for their dedication towards safeguarding the international border. “The DG also appreciated the alertness of the BSF troops and said that detection of tunnels in past shows their devotion towards their duty for the motherland. In turn, motivated border men met their new chief with full enthusiasm and zeal, maintaining the Covid-19 protocols like social distancing,” the BSF spokesperson said.
