I-T raids premises linked to Anil Deshmukh in Nagpur

NAGPUR: After the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Income Tax department on Friday swooped down upon former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmhukh.
A day after the ED filed a chargesheet in Deshmukh case, stating that the former minister and one of his associates had received Rs 20 crore each for reversing one of the most controversial orders of the ex-Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh, a team of the Income Tax’s investigation wing is carrying out raids on a number of premises related to Deshmukh in Nagpur.
There are reports of the team which struck at around 10am having covered an educational institute having Deshmukh and his relatives on the management board apart form a few offices and residential premises. One of the residences include a plush apartment in Nagpur whose links were also traced to one of Deshmukh’s close associates. The development was confirmed by insiders in Deshmukh’s office too.
