West Ham United will do 'everything they can' to keep Cristiano Ronaldo from scoring on Sunday.

That's according to manager David Moyes who also explained he hopes his striker Michail Antonio will develop in a similar fashion to United's No.7 - although he is suspended for the weekend's match.

Ronaldo has made a great start to life since returning to Old Trafford, scoring twice on his second debut against Newcastle United and bagging in the Champions League defeat to Young Boys as well.

The Portuguese is a certainty to start at the London Stadium and Moyes is all too wary about the threat that he poses.

"He's an unbelievable sort of killer, as far as scoring goals," the Hammers boss said in his pre-match press conference when asked how his side will go about stopping Ronaldo.

"I hope we can turn Mickey Antonio into a killer of a goalscorer because Ronaldo started as a wide player, and ended up becoming a terrific number nine, so I hope that we can do the same with Mic in the years to come.

"But, Ronaldo is an excellent player, he has brought another level of excitement to the Premier League, and we will do everything we can to keep him quiet."

Moyes was also asked if he ever tried bringing Ronaldo back to United when he was in charge of the club, but that was never a possibility.

He said: "No he hadn’t long left, I would like to say yes. But no."
