UAE, UK to improve cooperation to accelerate measures to protect environment

(MENAFN) The UAE and the UK plan to speed up measures to protect environment, so both countries inked a memorandum of understanding to improve collaboration amid them.

The inked deal comes ahead of the UN COP26 climate summit in November, that set to be hosted by the UK in the city of Glasgow and offers a framework for wide-ranging cooperation by government entities, companies, and research agencies in support of realizing COP26 goals.

Dr. Sultan Al-Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, who is also special envoy for climate, and UK Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa James Cleverly inked the memorandum.

The UAE and the UK are going to collaborate to deliver on the Paris Agreement, including by reducing emissions to keep 1.5 degrees in reach, easing greater action on adaptation, mobilizing finance for climate action and cooperating on pathways to low emission and climate-resilient expansion.
