Library News: Week of Sept. 19, 2021

A Library for Homeschoolers program will be offered Thursday at the library in Worthington.

WORTHINGTON — The Nobles County Library, 407 12th St., Worthington, is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Adrian Branch Library, 214 Maine Ave., Adrian, is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Minnesota State Park passes: A free pass may be checked out from Wednesday through Tuesday. You must be a Nobles County resident and Plum Creek Library card holder.

Book Club: The Friends of the Library Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 to discuss “The Night Watchman” by Louise Erdrich. Contact the library to participate.

New Books for Adults: “Rock Paper Scissors” by Alice Feeney, “Defending Britta Stein” by Ronald H. Balson, “Into the Forest” by Rebecca Frankel, “Apples Never Fall” by Liane Moriarty and “The Inheritance” by JoAnn Ross.

New DVD: “Blue Bloods” (11th Season)

Library for Homeschoolers

Please join us from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the library in Worthington to learn more about how the library can help your child’s learning. There will be a tour of the library, demonstration on using the catalog and eBooks and using library computers. There will be a scavenger hunt at the end! This event is for both parents and children; no registration is needed.

Youth Programming

Please stop by the library or call 295-5340 to sign up your children for these activities:

  • Monday: Wii U Gaming (Grades 5-9), after school until 4:45 p.m.

  • Tuesday: After-School Program (Grades K-5) until 4:45 p.m.

  • Wednesday: Story Time (Toddlers, Preschoolers), 10 to 11 a.m.

  • Thursday: After-School Program (Grades K-5) until 4:45 p.m.

  • Sept. 27: Just Gurlz (girls in grades 5-9), until 4:45 p.m.

  • Sept. 28: After-School Program (Grades K-5) until 4:45 p.m.

Students are responsible for their own ride to and from the library, and should be picked up by 5 p.m.

Special programs

Sept. 21: “Moving Words” presented by a panel of Minnesota Book Award winners. Worthington’s Daniel Bernstrom, 2021 winner for children’s literature, will be joined by Su Hwang, 2020 winner for poetry, and Kaethe Schwehn, 2015 winner for creative non-fiction. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the library in Worthington.

Sept. 22: Computer tutorial on creating and using a gmail account to send and receive emails, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Call 295-5340 to reserve a spot.

Oct. 28: Musical artist Dennis Warner will perform at 1 p.m. at the Adrian Senior Citizens Center, 120 N. Maine Ave., and at 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, Worthington.
