PATNA: A posse of armed police force was deployed at Karnauti village under the Mahnar police station area in Vaishali district on Sunday following widespread protests over the murder of a 14-year-old schoolgirl.
The body of the girl, a Class X student, was recovered from an agriculture field filled with rainwater along Jandaha-Patori road on September 15, a day after she went missing.
However, her bicycle and school bag are still missing.
A dharna was staged at Mahnar sub-divisional office with protesters demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
Meanwhile, politicians from different parties met the girl’s family members and assured them of speedy justice. Former ministers Suresh Sharma and Ajit Kumar were among the prominent leaders who consoled the girl’s family members.
Plurals chief Pushpam Priya Choudhary also reached Karnauti village on Sunday and talked to the family members of the girl. Earlier, JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha had called on the girl’s family.
Meanwhile, Vaishali SP Maneesh said the postmortem of the girl’s body was conducted under the supervision of a medical board comprising a woman doctor. “The report is awaited,” he added. A special investigation team headed by the Mahnar SDPO has been set up to crack the case at the earliest.
