Cape Breton Lynx post weekend ties with Halifax in Maritime Major Female Under-18 Hockey League action

HALIFAX, N.S. - The Cape Breton Lynx picked up a pair of points in Maritime Major Female Under-18 Hockey League action in Halifax over the weekend.

The Lynx (0-2-2) and Halifax Western Capitals (0-2-2) tied both games at the HRM 4-Pad in Halifax.

On Saturday, the Lynx and Western Capitals tied 3-3.

Allison Gilfoy scored twice, while Kamryn Lahey chipped in with a goal for Cape Breton. Meanwhile, Rylee Bennett, Samantha Taylor, and Ella Cruickshank replied with goals for Halifax.

Cape Breton's Anna MacNeil made 16 saves. Halifax's Lucy Phillips stopped 30 of 33 shots.

On Sunday, the teams skated to a 2-2 tie.

Julia MacKinnon and Maira Pino netted goals for the Lynx, while Bennett and Maja Kolanko had the goals for the Western Capitals.

Cape Breton's Meghan Muise made 16 saves. Halifax's Claire Zettler stopped 26 of 28 shots.

The Lynx will be back in action this weekend when they play the Northern Subway Selects of Pictou County is a home-and-home series.

Cape Breton and Pictou County will meet on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, before playing Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.
