Uttar Pradesh: Teen killed, 3 others injured as goods train derails in Etawah

A 14-year-old boy was killed while three others were injured after a speeding goods train derailed on dedicated freight corridor (DFC) in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday.

The accident took place at 5.05pm some 8km before New Ekdil railway station in Etawah district.
LUCKNOW: A 14-year-old boy was killed while three others were injured after a speeding goods train derailed on dedicated freight corridor (DFC) in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday.
The accident took place at 5.05pm some 8km before New Ekdil railway station between the border of Mahola and Bichpuri Kheda village.
The train carrying 58 wagons was heading to Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand with consignment of limestones.

A total of 44 wagons were derailed, killing a 14-year-old boy who was with a herd of sheep.
The deceased was identified as Sachin Diwakar. Anurag, Gaurav and Suman suffered injuries in the accident.
The were taken to a government hospital after local police force and a rescue team reached the spot.
As per the police, one of the wagons rolled down a 25-feet deep gorge towards a farm land where the teenager was taking the sheep for grazing.
After the accident, rail traffic remained disrupted on the DFC.
Railway sources claim that it might take up to three to four days to clear the mangled wagons and limestones from the tracks.

Special cranes were dispatched from Agra and Kanpur at the accident site to remove the wagons.
Neeraj Verma, a senior DFC officer said, "The cargo was heading to the Bokaro steel plant from Sonu railway station in Jaisalmer. The train crew didn't suffer any injuries. The cranes are yet to reach the accident spot and it will take 24-48 hours to clear the tracks."
Sources claimed, since casualty has been reported the commissioner of railway safety will probe the matter.
This was the second such accident in the past 28 days on the DFC in Etawah district.
Earlier, 17 wagons got derailed on August 23 on DFC near Rajepur village of Jaswantnagar area.
