Huzurabad youth arrested for cheating people promising cheap diesel

Bharat Reddy told Racharla Srinivas that he had around 400 litres of diesel which he can sell at Rs 70 per litre

Karimnagar: The Huzurabad police on Monday nabbed a man who was accused of cheating by collecting money on the promise of providing them cheap diesel.

Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Venkat Reddy identified the accused as Bharat Reddy, 32, of Maripeda mandal, Mahbubabad district.

The ACP said that on September 10, Bharat Reddy told one Racharla Srinivas in Gaddapaka of Keshavapatnam mandal that he had around 400 litres of diesel which he can sell at Rs 70 per litre against the real price of about Rs 98. Bharat Reddy asked for half the money up front, and told Srinivas to accompany him to collect the diesel. Srinivas paid him Rs 14,000.

Bharat Reddy took Srinivas around a couple of petrol bunks, and then to a liquor shop from where he disappeared.

Following this, Srinivas lodged a complaint. The police after registering the case started investigation under the supervision of Huzurabad Rural circle inspector E. Kiran and Keshavapatnam ASI Banda Prashanth Rao.

The police apprehended Bharat Reddy at Molangur crossroads when he was heading towards Saidapur. Police said 18 cases were registered against Bharat Reddy in Khammam, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Mahabubabad and Jangoan districts. The police seized two bikes and Rs 8.500 from his possession.
