Aurangabad: Serial carjackers speed away to escape from police, kill biker; arrested

Police said that the trio left their house at Ramrai, Waluj on a motorbike around 10.45 pm. They reached Pimpalgaon phata on Aurangabad-Nashik highway and hijacked a car by threatening its owner Kevalsingh Sulane. They also took Sulane’s mobile phone and Rs 8,000 from him.

The accused then drove back to Pimpalgaon phata to find their next target. Around 12.30am when they were 7 km away from Pimpalgaon phata, they spotted an Innova on the Solapur-Dhule highway. They blocked the car and assaulted three men in it, including the owner Satish Gupta and took the vehicle. On their way back, police started chasing them.

Around 20 minutes later, in Daulatabad, Umesh lost control over the vehicle and rammed it into two other vehicles, including the motorbike driven by Chandrakant Bodse. Yogesh succumbed to head injuries from the crash on Saturday.

“We arrested two of the robbers. We have registered two FIRs against them for assault, robbery and dacoity among other IPC sections,” said Amol Dhakne, Sub-Inspector of Sillegaon station.
