THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A high-level meeting chaired by general education and labour minister V Sivankutty that met here discussed the preparations for the upcoming Plus One exams to be held from Sept 24.
The district-level officials of the education department explained the preparations that are being made in respective districts for conducting the exams. The meeting decided to share the details of the preparations with district collectors, district panchayat presidents and other local body officials for seeking their necessary support for conducting the exams.
It has been decided to conduct the exams following strict health protocols in the wake of Covid-19.
The exam halls, furniture, school surroundings etc., will be cleaned and sanitised before Sept 22. For this purpose, the department will utilise the help of the health department, parent-teacher associations, voluntary organisations, fire force and local bodies.
There will only be one entry for the examination centre. At the entrance, the body temperature of the students will be checked using a thermal scanner, and they will have to sanitise their hands. School uniform will not be mandatory for the students.
It will be ensured that the students are adhering to Covid-19 protocols, including maintaining social distancing and wearing masks. There will be an exam hall layout displayed prominently for helping students. It will also be ensured that they are not closely interacting in groups after the exams.
Those students who tested Covid-19 positive and are attending the exams will have to wear PPE kits and attend the exams in separate rooms.
Students will not be allowed to exchange pens or calculators in the exam halls, and they will have to strictly abide by the Dos and Don'ts displayed in the exam centres. Air-conditioned halls will not be utilised for exams. Instead, only those classrooms that are well ventilated and with enough light will be used as exam halls.
