Four of family held for jeweller’s suicide
Rajkot: The city police on Tuesday arrested four of a family in connection with the suicide of a jewellery showrom owner, who had committed suicide, alleging that he was being harassed by them.
Police arrested Krushnasinh Raizada, his wife Shobhanaba, brother Dilipsinh and his wife Divyaba for allegedly abeting the the suicide of Ramesh Lodhiya. They were allegedly threatening him return their mortgaged jewellery and give them money.

Police said that four other accused identified as Dhanrajsinh Raizada, Munno Sandhvaya, Jaggu and Bhupat are yet to be arrested.
The family had mortgaged their jewellery worth Rs 37 lakh with Lodhiya at his shop on Kothariya Road and borrowed Rs 21 lakh. While they did not pay any interest amount to Lodhiya, the accused threatened him to return their jewellery and asked him to pay them money too.
Police said that Sandhvaya, Bhupat and Jaggu used to be sent to Lodhiya’s shop to threaten him and collect money. Lodhiya was told that if he would not pay money, they would register a police complaint. An application in the past was also submitted to Aji Dam police station.
Since the harassment continued, Lodhiya ended his life and left behind an 11-page long suicide note accusing all accused of harassment and issuing threats. Based on the suicide note and a complaint submitted by Lodhiya’s wife Vairagi, a case of abetment to suicide was registered and four accused were arrested.
