Prayagraj: SP chief Akhilesh Yadav demands probe into Narendra Giri’s death by sitting high court judge

PRAYAGRAJ: Samajwadi Party (SP) national president and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday demanded a probe into the death of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Mahant Narendra Giri by a sitting high court judge “to bring out the truth”.
The former CM was in the city on Tuesday to pay his last respect to Giri at Shri Math Baghambari Gaddi, Allahapur.
Talking to the reporters, Yadav said, “It’s a matter of thorough investigation as to what exactly happened to the president of ABAP Mahant Narendra Giri.Not only the countrymen, saints and seers too want to know as to why such an incident occurred and the circumstances behind it. A fair and impartial probe will clear the picture.”
“The SP as well as the seers want the probe to be conducted by a sitting judge of the high court to bring out the truth,” he said, adding, “Giri was planning to meet senior officials and ministers for the past many days and might have been in severe depression.” “If Mahant Giri was worried, stressed or facing any other problem or his land was allegedly being grabbed by someone, an impartial probe conducted by a sitting high court judge would bring out the truth,” said the former CM.The SP chief also recalled the contribution of Giri in making Kumbh 2019 a grand success. He also highlighted the interest that the seer had taken during each and every ritual and ceremony during the Kumbh.Meanwhile, SP district spokesman Daan Bahadur said, “The death of Giri has become a mystery and no proper reason has been ascertained till now.”
Giri was found dead inside a room at the campus of Shri Math Baghambari Gaddi, Allahapur on Monday.
