Missing minor found in West Bengal by police, reunited with her family
Gurgaon: A minor girl, who went missing from Gurgaon last month, was tracked down in West Bengal and reunited with her parents on Monday.
Police said the minor had travelled all the way to West Bengal to meet another girl she befriended on Instagram. The two girls had decided to meet up in West Bengal without informing their parents.
On August 9, a missing person’s complaint was filed at the Shivaji Nagar police station by the family of the minor.
A day later, a similar complaint of another minor girl was filed at a police station in West Bengal.
According to police, the Gurgaon-based minor girl was guided by her friend about the route and she had travelled by train to Varanasi and then to Bengal.
“Both the girls stayed together for days after which the Bengal-based minor returned home. They were living with a known person whose identity we are trying to ascertain,” said Narendra of the Gurgaon’s missing cell.
While the two friends were staying together, the Bengal-based minor received information regarding the search operation launched by the police to find her, and that’s when she decided to return home.

However, the Gurgaon-based minor did not return home and went to a children’s home in West Bengal.
Meanwhile, the Gurgaon police who were already searching for the girl had alerted the child welfare committee (CWC) in West Bengal about her, which, in turn, informed the cops here.
“With the help of Bengal’s CWC, the girl was brought from the state safely to Gurgaon on Monday. All the legal formalities were completed by us before she was reunited with her family,” said the cops.
