LUCKNOW: Pitching development as one of the major achievements of his government, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that Uttar Pradesh has become bhrashtachar mukt, bhaya mukt, danga mukt, gaddha mukt aur andhkaar mukt (free of corruption, fear, riots, potholes and darkness) during his regime.
Speaking at a media event, Yogi said the infrastructure development by his government, ranging from Jewar Airport to Bundelkhand Expressway, will not just provide better connectivity but will ensure economic growth as massive industrialisation is being promoted around these projects.

NCR areas like Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway were the face of the state, but previous CMs considered it jinxed and did not visit it.
“I visited the area and sent a clear message by breaking this superstition because of which other CMs used to consider NCR inauspicious. We implemented our promise of security and development in NCR also and are working to realise the full potential of this area. Even during Covid times, the NCR received several investments that reinforced our pledge of development. These investments include the Jewar Airport, film city and the country’s first facility manufacturing smartphone display units,” the CM added.
Earlier, investors used to run away from UP and found China and Vietnam more attractive investment destinations, but it is not so now, Yogi said “Currently, a data centre is being set up, a multi-modal hub is being developed, a rapid rail network was established between Delhi and Meerut along with a highway and these efforts reflected the positive changes in UP,” he added.
Hitting out at the Opposition, the CM said that the previous governments did not bother to develop modern public transport systems anywhere in the state but now Metro rail is there now and will be functional in Kanpur and
Agra by the end of the year. Five new expressways are being constructed and Bundelkhand, considered the most economically backward region in UP, Is going to be linked by Ganga Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway.
“The efforts of our government are showing results. UP is now the second largest economy in the country, up from the sixth position earlier. We are also second in ease of doing business and our per capita income has almost doubled since 2017,” he said, adding that the coming five years are crucial to sustain this growth and ensure UP becomes the largest economy and its per capita income is at par with the national average.
Responding to questions from the audience, the CM said there are about 14,051 cases of disputed land acquisition by Greater Noida Authority which have to be resolved and the government is holding discussions on the SIT report on this matter.
He also praised doctors and health workers who worked as Corona warriors, but also mentioned those who turned hospitals into hubs of money making during the pandemic and said such persons should be boycotted by the medical fraternity.
