Located in the former Rite Aid site at 5545 Stearns St., the pop-up seasonal chain will be selling Halloween supplies and costumes.

Bank centennial

This month, Farmers & Merchants Bank is celebrating 100 years of serving East Long Beach. The bank’s first branch office opened in September 1921 in the heart of Zaferia. The downtown bank was established in 1907.

According to bank officials, the original bank building stood for a dozen years before it was destroyed by the 1933 earthquake. The current building has been remodeled over the years, but the mid-century modern post and beam design remains.

More Pizza

The oldest restaurant in Long Beach Domenico’s Italian Restaurant has been in Belmont Shore at 5339 E. Second St. since 1954. Friday nights after football games, many locals had the tradition of getting a ground pepperoni pizza with an order of salad with that famous house dressing.

Now foodies in the OC can enjoy a slice of Italy with the new Domenico’s on the Lake, on Lake Mission Viejo at 27782 Vista Del Lago. The new restaurant just opened and on the menu you’ll find Domenico’s favorites and some new items like Braised Short Rib, an Italian Ribeye with Gremolata and Wild Shrimp Scampi.
