Rashmi Rocket trailer out. Taapsee Pannu film questions archaic gender tests for female athletes
The trailer of Taapsee Pannu’s Rashmi Rocket dropped today, September 23. Directed by Akarsh Khurana, the film is all set to premiere on Zee5 on October 15.
As fans eagerly wait for Taapsee Pannu’s sports drama, Rashmi Rocket, the makers of the film dropped its trailer today, September 23. The actress plays the role of a Gujarati athlete named Rashmi in the film, who is subjected to harsh gender testing because of her body, which is labelled as 'mardaana' or not conventionally feminine. The film is all set to release on Zee5 on October 15. Directed by Akarsh Khurana, Rashmi Rocket’s cast also includes Priyanshu Painyuli, Abhishek Banerjee and Supriya Pathak.

For her role as a fast runner in Rashmi Rocket, Taapsee Pannu trained vigorously. All that hard work seems to have paid off as the actress looks perfect as the athlete, Rashmi, in the trailer of the film. However, it is to address the archaic gender testing that is performed on female athletes. Rashmi gets support from her family even as the world refuses to accept that a female can be in such a great form with a solid physique.

Rashmi Rocket’s story reminds us of professional sprinter Dutee Chand, who won two silver medals at the 2018 Asian Games. But, back in 2014, she was banned from competing as a female because of high testosterone levels in her body.
WHEN TAAPSEE ANNOUNCED THE TRAILER RELEASE OF RASHMI ROCKET
Earlier today, September 23, Taapsee Pannu took to Instagram to let her fans know that the trailer of her upcoming film, Rashmi Rocket, will release at 6:30pm. Sharing a teaser, she wrote, "On your marks aur get set toh ho chuka hai , ab bas go hona baaki hai. Rashmi, rocket ki speed se aa rahi hai aaj 6:30 baje!#TrailerOutToday on #Zee5 (sic)."

In Rashmi Rocket, Taapsee Pannu plays a fast runner Rashmi, while Priyanshu Painyuli plays her husband. Supriya Pathak plays the role of Taapsee’s mother in the film. Abhishek Banerjee plays the lawyer who represents Taapsee in court as she fights the outdated gender tests female athletes are subjected to.
