Yudhvir Singh Dadwal, Delhi Police former Commissioner, died on Thursday at his home in Chhattarpur.
From July 2007 to November 2010, Dadwal, a 1974-batch Indian Police Service officer, served as the Sixteenth Police Commissioner of Delhi. Dadwal had been ill for some time.
Dadwal was the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police before being nominated as the Delhi Police Chief in 1980.
He served as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the UT Chandigarh from 1993 to 1995. In November 2010, he was named Director-General of the Central Paramilitary Force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), after serving as the Delhi Police Chief. In 2016, he was appointed Governor of Arunachal Pradesh after retiring from the military.
During his three-decade career, Dadwal has received numerous awards, including the President’s Police Medal for outstanding service and the police medal for exemplary service.
