Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): The Janata Dal United (JD-U) Nagaland state unit has claimed that the ball of the Naga political issue is no more with the Working Committee, Naga National Political Groups (NNPG) or the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), but in the court of Indian government.

In a press communiqué, the party said that the NNPG has repeatedly ‘stated that the talk is concluded and is waiting on the Government of India (GoI) to invite them for inking the charter of agreement’, while the NSCN (IM) has made it clear that there won’t be solution without Naga flag and constitution.

Citing these reasons, the party claimed that the ball is “obviously in the court of the GoI” and “there is no obscurity about the position of state of the Naga political issue”.

The JD(U) went on to state that in such a scenario, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) should make efforts to convince the GoI and other political parties to understand the unique nature of the Naga political issue, instead of meeting different Naga political groups.

It also said that the all-party government must register its resentment by taking to the streets if the Centre fail to resolve the issue honourably.

While terming the formation of UDA as historic, it said “posterity will be the judge if the historic action actually lived up to its purpose”.
