LUCKNOW: For six weeks in a row now, the daily case count of
coronavirus infection for
Uttar Pradesh has remained below 50. On Thursday too, 11 new cases were reported from across six districts of the state.
With this, the total number of cases reported in UP since the onset of the pandemic reached 17,09,719. Of the total, 16,86,644 have recovered while 22,889 have died. This speaks for a recovery rate of 98.7% and a death rate of 1.3%.
In all, the state is left with 186 active cases.
Of these, 52% of the cases belong to just six districts. Also, as many as 30 districts have become free from
Covid-19 with active cases touching zero.
The list includes Amroha, Auraiya,
Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Baghpat, Ballia, Banda, Bahraich, Bhadohi, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hathras, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Mahoba, Mau, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Rampur, Saharanpur, Sant Kabirnagar, Shamli, Shravasti, Sitapur and Sultanpur.
Meanwhile, more than 11 lakh people came forward to take their vaccine shots. Health officials informed that the number of first dose takers in the state crossed 8.07 crore. The total number of doses administered in the state also reached 9.87 crore, the highest in the country.
An official statement warned people of the state against any carelessness as the risk of contracting the pandemic still exists. They also attributed the control over Covid-19 to the state’s strategy of trace, test and treat coupled with partial corona curfew and aggressive vaccination.
