Covid-19: Mumbai reports close to 500 cases, over 50 buildings sealed in city

MUMBAI: Fresh Covid-19 cases in Mumbai inched dangerously close to the 500-mark on Friday, as 497 persons tested positive for the infection.
The total caseload of the city has now surged to 7,39,861, as per the data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Also, the death toll has now mounted to 16,068 with five persons succumbing to the virus in the day.

All five patients had comorbidities. Three of them were over 60 years of age while two belonged to the 40 to 60 age group.
On the other hand, 395 persons got cured of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, shared the BMC.
With a recovery rate of 97 per cent, Mumbai has so far recorded 7,16,511 discharges.
The city is now left with 4,801 active cases.
The overall growth rate of Covid-19 cases from September 16 to September 22 is 0.06 per cent, while the doubling rate is 1,203 days.
The number of sealed buildings in the BMC limits is now pitched at 51, whereas there are no active containment zones (slums and chawls) in the city.
