Shootout at Rohini court in Delhi: How it happened

In a dramatic shootout inside Delhi's Rohini court, three persons, including a dreaded gangster, were killed on Friday. Delhi Police personnel brought gangster Jitendra Gogi to produce him before a court in Rohini. Two persons allegedly dressed as lawyers breached security. They shot dead the most-wanted gangster Jitendra Gogi in a corridor of the court as people heard multiple gunshots.

In a dramatic shootout inside Delhi's Rohini court, three persons, including a dreaded gangster, were killed on Friday.
Here's how it happened:
  • Delhi Police personnel brought gangster Jitendra Gogi to produce him before a court in Rohini.


  • They shot dead the most-wanted gangster Jitendra Gogi in a corridor of the court as people heard multiple gunshots.

  • The two attackers were from a rival gang.


  • The attackers were also gunned down in the shootout.

  • Gogi was arrested in April under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act by Delhi Police’s Special Cell. The MCOCA proposal details 19 cases of murder and attempted murder, besides dozens of extortions, dacoities, carjackings and robberies.


  • Gogi had started dealing in property after dropping out of school and taken to crime after his father’s death in 2010.

  • "Two criminals opened fire at gangster Jitender Mann Gogi when he was taken to the Rohini court for a hearing. In retaliation, police shot dead both the attackers. One of them was carrying a reward of Rs 50,000," said Delhi Police commissioner Rakesh Asthana.

  • A woman lawyer is reported to be injured in the exchange of firing between police and assailants.

  • "Gogi was shot thrice by the attackers. Both the assailants were neutralised by the police security of the gangster in return firing," said an eyewitness.
