UTS mobile app for booking train tickets now in Hindi
UTS railway ticket booking app will now be available in Hindi language as well. Developed in-house by Indian Railways the app was only available in English language till now. As per the ministry, the app currently has around 1.47 crore registered users. The app allows users to book unreserved tickets using various digital payment options such as Rail-Wallet, debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI and e-wallets.
Users of Rail-Wallet also get a 5% bonus on recharge.
Conventionally, unreserved tickets were sold at the booking counters of railway stations. With a view to reduce waiting time of passengers at booking counters, railway ticketing agents and automated ticket vending machines were introduced as additional points of sale at bigger stations by the Indian Railways. However, physical presence of customers was required at all these three points of sale.
To use the services that the app provides, you can download it from Play Store or App Store. Once you register on the app using your name, mobile number and other required information. You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number and once you enter the OTP, login ID and password to access the account will be sent to your mobile number.
UTS app was first launched in December 2014 after that the system was tested on the parameters of safety, security and customer experience and later on proliferated over the entire Mumbai suburban. Gradually the mobile ticketing app was extended to the metro cities of Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Secunderabad between years 2015-17. From November 2018 onwards the app is available for inter zonal travel also i.e. between any pair of stations over the entire Indian Railway on the pattern of normal ticketing.
