Septuagenarian dies in east Delhi fire
New Delhi: A septuagenarian died after a fire broke out at his house in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar on Friday morning. Police said that the man, Chaterpati, was paralyzed and was alone at the time when the incident took place. He lived with his wife and a son. The fire department received a call around 11am about a blaze in a house near Sethi Dharamshala. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
The firefighters broke the door to enter the third floor of the building and found an unconscious Chaterpati. “He was taken to a hospital and declared dead on arrival. Chaterpati’s son, Chirag, had gone to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the morning along with his mother, Anju, and no one was present in the house. Since Chaterpati was paralysed, they had locked the main gate of the house from outside,” said a senior officer. TNN
