David Elliott Hicks

David Elliot Hicks, 72, of Clyde Township, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Metro Health Hospital in Wyoming, Michigan. He was born October 16, 1948 to John Willie and Betty (Hinmen) Hicks in Marked Tree, Arkansas. David honorably served his country in the United States Army before receiving a medical discharge from service. He later married Annie Cossey on August 22, 1972 in Cabot, Arkansas. They shared 49 years and one month in marriage.

David was a skillful mechanic and enjoyed working on automobiles. He was always on the move and enjoyed helping take his friends and families to their various appointments. He also loved to watch wrestling and his Westerns including Gun Smoke.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by siblings – RC, John Wayne, Perry Junior, and Harold J. Hicks, Ora Jean Shirley, Bonnie Holtsclaw, and Joyce Okane.

David is survived by his wife – Annie Hicks of Fennville; children – David Joseph Lyding of Indiana, Patricia Ann (Jack) Clark of Fennville, Pamela Diane (Nate) Gagnon of Montgomery, Michigan, Patrick Hicks of Louisiana, and Bobbie Hicks of Arkansas. Seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren also survive with one more great grandchild on the way.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the Filbrandt Chapel in South Haven. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM with Pastor Howard Bradford officiating at the funeral home. David will be laid to rest at Pearl Cemetery in Clyde Township.
