The Bottom Line: What is a Blazer? A Blazer today is a midsize Chevrolet SUV. The first Chevy Blazer was originally a short wheelbase truck that went into production in 1969. It had four engine options and three transmission options, with a wheelbase around 104 inches.

For 2021 Blazer has head turning form, with function to match. Blazer delivers a blend of style and substance that will make your next drive anything but, an everyday event. The entry level Chevy Blazer has a starting price of only $28,800, and makes it one of the most affordable SUVs in the midsize SUV class.

The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer represents the third model year of the all new Blazer crossover, and it remains mostly unchanged. Notably, a revision was made to the 2021 Blazer Premier’s engine lineup, which now offers the turbocharged 2.0L liter inline 4 cylinder gas engine now as standard equipment.

The 2021 midsize Blazer 2 row SUV has 10 direct competitors in this class. They are, in no particular order: the Subaru Outback, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sorento. Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Passport, Nissan Murano, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Venza, and the VW Atlas Cross Sport. These are all model names that you know, and this SUV class is the highest in sales volume of all SUVs sold in America. You gotta be good to be in this class, and the Chevy Blazer is one of the best of the bunch.

This week Chevy sent me a 2021 Blazer RS AWD SUV to test drive and review. The base window sticker price of this model starts at $43,700. The list of $3,980 in options are: the Enhanced Convenience package for $1,660, the Driver Confidence II package for $1,650, the Cherry Red Tintcoat paint for $495, and the Storage Optimization package for $175. The total MSRP manufacturer’s suggested retail price, including the $1,195 destination charge, came to: $48,875.

After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealers fees, the total out the door and in your driveway purchase price came to: $54,984. If your midsize SUV budget is capped at $55 Grand, then this is the RS rally sport AWD all wheel drive SUV sport utility vehicle that you have been looking for.

Power for this model comes from a 3.6L liter V/6 engine with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, bolted to a 9 speed automatic transmission. As this is an AWD model, power is routed to an advanced all wheel drive traction system, that offers the perfect mix of capability, comfort and confidence. And to help you take your drive to the next level, the Advanced Twin-Clutch AWD system independently directs torque to the wheel with the best traction, for even more confidence and control.

The enhanced convenience and confidence II option packages include: heated seats with memory settings, a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a Bose 8 speaker premium audio system, ventilated front bucket seats, a rear view camera with a power washer, rear seat safety alert, a wireless charging pad, adaptive cruise control, LED headlamps, enhanced automatic emergency braking, and HD high definition surround view cameras.

All AWD Blazers are equipped with a Driver Mode Selector switch. With a simple twist of the wrist, the driver mode selector lets you adjust your vehicle’s performance on challenging road surfaces. The AWD all wheel drive position provides added traction for driving on slippery roads. The Off Road position optimizes throttle and chassis control systems for handling rough terrain.

The Sport Mode offers a sportier driving experience, and in the Tow and Haul position it helps you pull a trailer with confidence and stability. In the Tour position the transfer case switches back to FWD front wheel drive for the most fuel efficient driving. All of these driveline changes are available at your fingertips, with instant application and positive control.
And finally, ask anything, because Alexa’s on board. For the first time ever, you can get Alexa built right into your vehicle. Stream your favorite music, add to your Amazon shopping list, and even connect with your smart home devices, all while you’re on the go.

When you’re ready to buy a new midsize SUV, the 2021 Chevy Blazer should be on your ride and drive list, as it is one of the best priced and equipped midsize SUVs for sale today. Call, click or visit your local Chevrolet dealer for a test drive, and a Bottom Line price review, on a new 2021 Chevy Blazer. And remember that the base window sticker price for a brand new Blazer is only $28,800.
