HYDERABAD:
Telangana Congress working president and former Indian cricket captain
Mohammed Azharuddin has decided to play ball with students and youngsters and get them closer to
Congress party by organising cricket matches.
Azhar will be holding matches in each of the 17 parliamentary constituencies in
Telangana to improve the connect of the party with youngsters and students with an eye on the 2023 assembly and 2024 general elections.
Congress former president Rahul Gandhi has given the go-ahead to Azhar to conduct these matches to not only promote sporting spirit among the younth but also explain Congress ideology and what successive Congress governments have done for the country.
Speaking to TOI, Azhar said: “We are trying to promote cricket in rural areas too among the youngsters and at the same time tell them about the ideology of Congress and what it has done for the country”.
