Chennai: Police foil gang’s attempt to kill rival at Pulianthope

A gang of five attempted to eliminate their rival gang members at Pulianthope, but police manage to foil their attempt by apprehending five rowdies at Otteri. In another incident at Urapakkam near Vandalur, police recovered six country-made bombs and 500g of ganja from a house.

CHENNAI: A gang of five attempted to eliminate their rival gang members at Pulianthope, but police manage to foil their attempt by apprehending five rowdies at Otteri. In another incident at Urapakkam near Vandalur, police recovered six country-made bombs and 500g of ganja from a house.
A police team narrowed down on the suspects holed up at Dhobi Khana Park in Otteri.
They were identified as P Chella alias Chelladurai, 22, S Mani alias Manikandan, 20, both are from Veerapuram, G Ramesh alias Parotta Seenu, 23, of Otteri, S Rajesh Khanna, 27, and S Vinod Kumar, 18, both from Perumbakkam.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that all of them are associates of the arrested suspect Chella’s brother Manickam. They came there to eliminate their rival gang members holed up at Otteri.
An investigation officer said the gang targeted a few rivals who were often spotted in the area at night. They learned that to avoid police some of them hid in the park. While Ramesh was involved in three murder cases and two robbery cases, Rajesh Khanna and Vinoth Kumar were involved in a murder case each.
Police seized two sickles and three knives from them. The Otteri police arrested the five suspects and they were remanded in judicial custody after being produced before a magistrate on Saturday.
In another incident at Iyanchery School Road in Urapakkam, a police team and the revenue officials conducted a surprise check based on a tip that some strangers were holed up there. two men escaped from the house. Police chased them, but failed to nab them. The duo was idetified as Aravind and Satish.
Following this, the police team searched Arvind’s house and they discovered six country-made bombs and halfa-kilogram of ganja from the cupboard. Police is searching for the duo.
