BENGALURU: A gang of miscreants allegedly picked up a 22-year-old student from a pub in JP Nagar on Friday night on the pretext of dropping him at his residence and assaulted him in their moving vehicle. Earlier, there was an altercation between them.
The father of the injured student, Pranay KR, a resident of Koramangala, filed a complaint against the gang of eight persons for allegedly assaulting his son.
The complainant told police that his son took permission from him to go to a party with his friends and didn’t attend calls between 9pm and 11.50pm. Pranay later informed his parents that he had been dropped near a hospital in Marathahalli by a gang, which assaulted him.
Police said one of Pranay’s friends mistook a youth in the pub to be an employee and summoned him. The youth became angry with Pranay’s friend and threw a beer bottle at the partying friends. The bottle hit Pranay’s face and he sustained injury on his lips. Soon, the youth and his associates and Pranay and his friends began trading words. Bouncers at the pub intervened and sent the youth and his associates out of the pub.
Pranay later came out of the pub and was waiting for a cab. The same gang that created ruckus inside the pub approached him, apologised and asked him to bury the hatchet. Later, they asked him where he wanted to go and offered to drop him. Pranay got into their car, but the suspects assaulted him inside the moving vehicle till 11.50pm and sped away after dumping him near a hospital at Marathahalli.
JP Nagar police registered a case against the gang on Saturday and probe is on to trace and nab the suspects.
