Emirates is celebrating a milestone in its operations to Jordan, marking 35 years of service to Amman. Since the first Emirates flight between Amman and Dubai in September 1986, the airline has carried over 6.2 million passengers on over 32,000 flights, demonstrating the strong tourism, trade and investment links between Jordan and the UAE.

Amman has grown to become one of is Emirates’ key gateways in the Middle East. The airline has been progressively growing its presence in Jordan, and today operates double daily flights, one of which is served by its flagship A380 double-decker aircraft. Since the airline launched regularly scheduled A380 services to Amman, more than 250,000 customers have experienced the aircraft’s signature services and products.

Mohammad Lootah, Area Manager Jordan said: "Jordan is an important market for Emirates in the region, and beyond, due to the strong traffic connecting business, tourism, and bringing together families, friends and communities within the Jordanian diaspora from across the world to and from the Kingdom. We are marking a significant milestone as we celebrate 35 years of service to Amman and we take great pride in the role we play in providing global connectivity to Jordan as it charts its economic recovery from the unprecedented effects of the pandemic."

Lootah continued: "Since 1986, we have provided award-winning inflight experiences to travellers, earned their loyalty, and have helped them discover the world through our extensive network of global destinations. Amman is also one of our 16 cities served by our flagship A380, and we hope to strengthen our operations even further to serve more customers, connect more people, Jordanian communities and business in the years to come."

Recognising the importance of connecting Jordanian businesses to Dubai and beyond to the airline’s cargo network of over 135 destinations, Emirates transports goods to and from Amman utilising the bellyhold cargo capacity on its passenger aircraft. In the last two years and at the height of the pandemic, Emirates SkyCargo carried 35,000 tonnes of cargo to and from Amman, including e-commerce items, electronics, fresh fruits and vegetables, essential medical supplies, PPE, as well as the Covid-19 vaccine.

Onboard, Emirates passengers can experience its renowned in-flight service from multi-national cabin crew. The airline also provides its customers with a host of culinary offerings prepared by international gourmet chefs. Passengers on all Emirates flights can enjoy multi award-winning ‘ice’ with more than 4,500 channels of movies, TV programmes, music and podcasts, including over 300 channels of Arabic entertainment.

Keeping the health and wellbeing of its passengers as top priority, Emirates has introduced a comprehensive set of safety measures at every step of the customer journey. The airline has also been building on its contactless technology offering and has scaled up its digital verification capabilities to provide its customers even more opportunities to utilise the IATA Travel Pass.

Emirates continues to lead the industry with innovative products and services that address traveller needs during a dynamic time. The airline has taken its customer care initiatives further with even more generous and flexible booking policies, an extension of its multi-risk insurance cover, and helping loyal customers retain their miles and tier status.
