Maharashtra: Gang of dacoits booked under MCOCA in Ahmednagar

The Ahmednagar police said that SP Manoj Paatil had issued instructions to gather information on gangs involved in criminal activities so that strict action like MCOCA can be taken against them.

The concerned gang members have eight cases of robbery, dacoity, and Arms Act cases registered against them.
NASHIK: The Ahmednagar police have slapped the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against a gang of five involved in a case of dacoity in Ahmednagar.
The five accused are identified as Suresh Nikam (28), Karan Shelar (19), Vikas Hanvat (24), Sagar Jadhav (30) and Satish Barde all from Ahmednagar.
The Ahmednagar police said that SP Manoj Paatil had issued instructions to gather information on gangs involved in criminal activities so that strict action like MCOCA can be taken against them.

Meanwhile, a case of dacoity and criminal conspiracy was registered with the MIDC police station in which it was found that the gang of Suresh Ranjit Nikam had committed the offence.
The Ahmednagar police prepared a proposal of invoking MCOCA against the five accused allegedly involved in the dacoity. Subsequently, the proposal was sent to the special inspector general of police of the Nashik division. The proposal received approval recently and additional charges of MCOCA were framed against the five accused.
The concerned gang members have eight cases of robbery, dacoity, and Arms Act cases registered against them in the MIDC police station and Sonai police station of Ahmednagar.
