Savannah, Ga. (WJCL)- Ridge of high pressure across the southeast will continue to control the weather today. There will be lots of sunshine with some patchy clouds in the afternoon. Highs are going to be a few degrees above the 84-degree average.
The quiet weather will continue throughout workweek. High pressure will move off the east coast by late week with a cold front dropping south into the area. There may be a spotty shower along the coast Friday or Saturday, but the chance look to be less than 20%. So, mainly dry weather is in the forecast with highs warming up into the upper-80s by Wednesday. It will be a few degrees cooler by the end of the week with northeast winds.
The lower humidity and below average temperatures will return by the weekend. Highs this weekend in the low to mid-80s.
Tracking the Tropics:
There are several areas we are tracking in the tropical Atlantic.
Sam is a major hurricane with winds around 130 mph. Sam will turn north and miss the Leeward Islands by tomorrow.
Track models keep Sam over the open Atlantic and staying just east of Bermuda by the weekend. We could see some increasing swells from Sam by the weekend.
There is a chance for a tropical depression to form by tomorrow or Thursday. This area is halfway between Windward Islands and Africa. Lots of time to track this one!
