Andhra Pradesh: 13-year-old slits throat after watching suicide videos in East Godavari

RAJAHMUNDRY: In a bizarre incident, a 13-year-old girl allegedly slit her throat with a piece of mirror after searching YouTube on the ways to commit suicide. The incident happened at Ambajipet town in East Godavari district late on Monday night. She died on the way to hospital.
Police said the girl’s mother, Ianavilli Baby Venkata Satyavati, used to stay in Vijayawada city till five months ago and came to her mother’s home at Ambajipet in April after the death of her husband.Since then, family disputes surfaced between Satyavati and her siblings. Her daughter Ianavilli Mokshitha, a student of class VIII, was disturbed by the family disputes.
On Monday afternoon, as per the deceased girl’s mother’s statement to the police, her daughter was searching the YouTube on how to commit suicide. Mokshitha later asked her mother about the best way to commit suicide quickly. She also wanted to know whether suicide by a razor blade or a kitchen knife would cause death instantaneously.
The mother scolded her and told her not to talk about suicide. But on Monday night, Mokshitha allegedly slit her throat with a piece of mirror in the bathroom. The family members immediately rushed her to Amalapuram government hospital. However, she succumbed to the injuries on the way and doctors declared her brought dead.
