Mysuru: Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai will visit Chamarajanagar on October 7 during President Ram Nath Kovind’s visit to the border district, the Mysuru and Chamarajanagar district in-charge minister ST Somashekar said on Friday.
Political leaders have avoided visiting the border town owing to a jinx popular in political circles that the sitting CM will lose power within six months of visiting the town.
But Somashekar said Bommai will visit Chamarajanagar and disregarded the jinx.
According to him, the CM will attend the Dasara inaugural event atop Chamundi Hills early in the morning and receive the president at the Mysuru Airport. He will join him in Chamarajanagar at 3.30pm during the inauguration of the hospital attached to the Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences.
The minister stated that the CM will receive the dignitary at the Mysuru airport, but will not join him in his tour of BR Hills in Chamarajanagar district.
Somashekar stated that the president will travel to Sringeri from Mysuru while the CM will stay back in the city and participate in the Dasara events.
Meanwhile, he took on opposition leader Siddaramaiah for his jibes against the RSS. “After he has recovered from Covid, Siddaramaiah is speaking rubbish. He does not know what he is speaking,” the minister said adding that Siddaramaiah is not aware of the RSS and its social work. “If he agrees, I will take him to a RSS centre,” he stated.
