Marlene the goldendoodle puppy takes full credit for the concept behind new dog shampoo business Poochiful - after her muddy paws were the inspiration behind it.

To share more about Poochiful and the puppy love behind the business, TeamDogs spoke to owner Ryan Lord, 39, from Burnley, Lancashire.
He said: "I welcomed Marlene into my home in 2020 and quickly discovered the high prices and confusing array of dog shampoos and dog perfume on the market.
“Marlene’s obsession with dirty puddles meant baths were a regular occurrence, and every dog shampoo out there was either very expensive or just cheap and ineffective.”
Frustrated by what he had seen and tried (which was pretty much every brand), Ryan began to analyse the market in more detail.
“With an in-house laboratory, skilled chemist and expert team - and of course being a lifelong dog lover - I decided to expand into the pet care business with Poochiful, under the Efinity umbrella.”
Earlier this year, the Poochiful brand launched.
Poochiful is a cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, pH balanced range of dog shampoos, conditioners and coat sprays that are kind to the planet and your dog’s skin.
Ryan said: “It was important to me to create products that did what they promised, and deliver them at an affordable price without compromise on quality."
As well as filling a gap in the market, Poochiful only tests on humans and is proudly manufactured in the UK.
Ryan said.: "We only test on humans - our animal-loving team, friends and family - to ensure that if it’s good enough for us, it’s good enough for our beloved dogs."
The bottles are fully recyclable and made from 30% recycled plastic, “and we are always striving to improve our eco paw print,” Ryan said.
Poochiful is created by dog lovers for dog lovers, right here in the UK.
Ryan said: “We are incredibly proud to support British jobs, manufacturing and industry.
“Our products are all formulated, created and tested by our dedicated dog-loving experts in Burnley, Lancashire.”
He added that Poochiful’s most popular product is the Dog Pawfume.
“It’s an easy fix for those in between baths to condition and refresh the coat and eliminate those doggie odours.
“Our Mucky Pup is also a particular favourite for those dogs that love to roll in fox poo,” Ryan said - just like Ash’s pup.
Ryan said his customers most love “the price point and the fact that all the products are cruelty-free, gentle on their dog’s skin and do their job brilliantly.”
