Bihar CM visits villages facing flood like situation in Nalanda, Nawada & Patna districts

Flood like situation has been created in many villages of the three districts due to overflowing of the local rivers after cyclone-induced heavy rains in their catchment areas in the last two days.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar visited different villages of Nalanda, Nawada and Patna districts on Saturday to take stock of the flood like situation due to heavy rains in last two days.
PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Saturday visited several villages facing flood like situation in Nalanda, Nawada and Patna districts, and issued necessary instructions to the officials for solving the problems of affected villages.
Flood like situation has been created in many villages of the three districts due to overflowing of the local rivers after cyclone-induced heavy rains in their catchment areas in the last two days.

Accompanied by the state’s water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, Nalanda MP Kaushalendra Kumar and many senior officials, the CM went to different villages through roads and talked to the villagers to take stock of the situation. Nitish spent almost six hours in different affected villages in the three districts.
As the approach road was inundated by flood waters, the CM went to Bikhochak Dariyapur village under Belchhi block of Patna district on foot to take stock of the flood situation. He spoke to the villagers and took their suggestions for solving the problem. The CM further asked the accompanying local officials to take necessary steps to find out a permanent solution for the waterlogging around the village.
Nitish also made an on-the-spot inspection of an embankment which was breached due to overflowing of waters in Jirayeen and Kumhari rivers near Bind village. He went on foot at the site of the breached embankment. Nitish gave a patient hearing to the problems of villagers and asked the officials to find out an immediate solution.
The CM further went to Katrisarai in Nalanda district and took stock of the flood like situation in the nearby villages. He spoke to villagers and inquired about their problems. The CM further asked the local officers to take appropriate action to solve the villagers’ problems.

Nitish further went to Nardiganj block in Nawada district and reviewed the rising level of waters in Panchane and Dhanarjay rivers.
On his return journey towards the state capital, the CM reviewed the rising trend of waters in Panchane river by standing on the Dihra-based bridge under Rahui block in Nalanda district. He spoke to local peoples’ representatives and inquired about the flood like situation.
Nitish further asked Nalanda DM Yogendra Singh to take necessary steps to ensure immediate relief to affected villagers.
While talking to media persons, Nitish said he had gone to Nalanda and Nawada to take stock of the flood like situation. “Necessary instructions have been issued to the officials. All necessary arrangements to help the affected people will be made,” he said.
Water resources department’s secretary Sanjeev Hans, Patna divisional commissioner Sanjay Kumar Agarwal and the secretary to the CM Anupam Kumar also accompanied the CM during review of the flood like situation.
