FIREFIGHTERS headed off to Dickson Shops this morning (October 15) following up reports of a gas leak.
After an hour on the scene, the owner of a tenancy above the shops suggested a potential source of the incident. After a short investigation, crews confirmed this suspicion.
It was not a gas leak, but in fact a Durian fruit.
Durian has been described as the most foul-smelling fruit in the world. Its aroma has been compared to raw sewage, rotting flesh and smelly gym socks. The smell is so pungent that the spiky-skinned, custard-like fruit is banned from public places in Singapore and Malaysia
Crews have now departed the scene.
