Fans take their seats, as fireworks light up the sky Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, before the Steelers game against the Carolina Panthers at Heinz Field.

Pittsburghers enjoy a good fireworks show, and the Steelers are doing their part to help fans get their fix.

These fireworks, though, are for informational purposes and not strictly entertainment.

Starting Sunday, the Steelers are introducing a program in which they will set off fireworks as a reminder to fans not to miss the opening kickoff before games at Heinz Field.

At 7:20 p.m., an hour before the Steelers play the Seattle Seahawks, fireworks will be set off to let fans know they should be ready to enter the stadium. Zambelli Fireworks will provide the display, which also will be set off 30 minutes before kick off.

The Steelers encountered issues with fans missing the opening kickoff at their first three home games because of mobile ticketing and other complications that have arisen since capacity crowds were permitted to return to games this season.

The Steelers also want to remind fans attending games at Heinz Field that they should have mobile tickets saved to the digital wallet on their smartphone, make sure the phone is fully charged and to arrive at least 30 minutes before kickoff.

The firework alerts will continue before home games for the rest of the season. The Steelers have home games remaining against Chicago (Nov. 8), Detroit (Nov. 14), Baltimore (Dec. 5), Tennessee (Dec. 19) and Cleveland (Jan. 3).
