Hundreds of people visit the Davis Farmers Market each week to get fresh produce, delicious food and to enjoy the live sound of music from musicians like James Dollson who has been playing at the farmers market for three years.

Dollson is a local pianist known for his skill on the piano even though he doesn’t know how to read sheet music. He played a song he said he created off the top of his head on a colorful piano near food stands to a crowd of several passersby.

Dollson said his favorite thing about playing the piano is when he turns around and sees people in tears of joy.

“When they’re listening to me, it’s like they forget about all their bills,” he said. “It takes them through an audio and visual escape.”

If you want to catch Dollson live, the farmers market is held every Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Central Park in Davis.
