DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 39-year-old man has been identified as the person killed Sunday morning when his pickup truck overturned in Darlington County.

Jose M. Shannon was ejected from his Ford F350 in the crash that happened about 5:30 a.m. in the 4300 block of Highway 403, also known as Oates Highway, according to Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee. Shannon was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, Hardee said.

The crash happened near Andrews Mills Road, and the truck was the only vehicle involved, according to Master Trooper Brian Lee of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Lee said Shannon was driving south on Highway 403 when his truck ran off the right side of the road. He overcorrected, causing the truck to go off the left side of the road and overturn, Lee said.

SCHP is investigating the crash. Count on News13 for updates.
