For years, a pub in Sheffield has been attracting visitors from across the world, eager to try their famed pies.

The Nottingham House in Broomhill has been said to serve “the best pies” in the city.

And with a long list of mouth-watering options, including Christmas dinner in a pie, it is no surprise why.

Freshly made every morning, the pub’s pies have attracted customers from as far as America.

And it seems Sheffield just can’t get enough, with over one hundred pies sold every day.

Landlord Cax Langan said: “They are no nonsense pies. We don’t scrimp and save on the fillings. You get hearty chunks of meat.”

The pub also serves a range of vegetarian and vegan options on its flexible menu, which normally includes between 10 and 15 different pies.

Bestsellers include the steak and red wine pie and the bacon, chicken and mozzarella option. The pies are served with generous helpings of gravy and hand-cut chips, mushy peas, or mash, for £9.95.

With fans across Sheffield and from further afield, the Nottingham House has a big reputation to uphold.

But luckily, the pies always go down a treat, according to supervisor, Sophie Cron.

“Everybody loves them but everyone is ready to fall asleep after,” she said.

The pies are particular favourites with students, who often flock to the pub in search of a golden, flaky, hangover cure.

Sophie said she also meets parents from across the country, whose children have brought them to try the pies when visiting the University of Sheffield or Sheffield Hallam University.

Thankfully for pie lovers across the country, the pub has no plans to stop selling them anytime soon.

Though it might soon be possible to get a “Notty house” pie in South Africa, since the landlord says previous regulars who moved from Sheffield are trying to recreate the recipe in their new home.

And for those of us lucky enough to live near Sheffield, the pub has also started selling takeaway pies, so you can enjoy them in the pub and take one for the road.
