Solano County Library Foundation to host annual authors luncheon

Event featuring Michelle Richmond, Bubba Paris, on Nov. 7

Prominent authors will be featured on Nov. 7 when the Solano County Library Foundation will host the 21st Annual Authors Luncheon at the Clubhouse at Rancho Solano, from 11 am to 3 p.m.

There will be mimosas, delicious food, talks by authors, a silent auction, book sales and a drawing.

To keep everyone safe, immunization records will be checked, and masks will be worn except when eating.

The Solano County Library Foundation is a 501-3C organization which supports many literacy programs of the Solano County Library including: Reach Out and Read, Solano Kids Read, Tutor. Com and other programs which promote both pediatric as well as adult literacy in Solano County.

This year’s luncheon will feature the following authors:

  • Michelle Richmond–A New York Times bestselling author of eight novels and story collections, her latest novel is the Silicon Valley thriller, The Wonder Test, which received a starred review in Booklist.  Her other titles include: The Marriage Pact; Golden State; and The Year of the Fog.
  • Bubba Paris–A former first-round draft pick of the San Francisco Forty-Niners Paris played for them during the years they won three Super Bowl Championships.  After his retirement he served as sports analyst for Channel 7 TV in San Francisco among other projects in television and radio.  He writes a column for a magazine and three newspapers and has written a book, Born for this moment. He is also an ordained minister and evangelist.
  • Alice Wilson-Fried–A graduate of Tulane University, she has lived for the last thirty years in California, most recently in Vacaville, she has written three published works:  Menopause, Sisterhood and Tennis, a non- fiction effort, and the first two of a trilogy of mysteries set in New Orleans: Outside Child and One Drop, which has the main characters caught in the middle of murder and mayhem while struggling to escape Hurricane Katrina.  Outside Child received the 2008 Silver Award for Excellence in Independent Publishing.
  • Claire Splan–The author of the award-winning California Month-By-Month Gardening, California Fruit and Vegetable Gardening, and Not-So-Hot Tomatoes: Growing Delicious Tomatoes in Cooler Climates, Splan is a member of the Garden Writers Association in addition to writing about gardening on her blog, An
    Alameda Garden.  She has made presentations at many prestigious gardening venues throughout California.  She is currently working on a narrative non-fiction book about a 1901 shipwreck.
  • Alexandra Boiger–Creator of the Max and Marla books as well as the illustrator of New York Times bestselling children’s books, Boiger grew up in Munich, Germany where she studied graphic design.  She worked in feature animation at both Warner Brothers and DreamWorks during her career.  She has worked on the She Persisted books by Chelsea Clinton.  Boiger now lives in Northern California.

Sponsorship levels for the event are as follows:  $10,000– First Edition Patrons–8 admissions;  $5000–Best Seller Patrons–8 admissions;  $2500– Limited Edition Patrons–6 admissions;  $1000–National Award Circle. Patrons–6 admissions;  $500–Literary Circle Patrons–3 admissions; Individual Tickets–$90.
