KENDRPADA: A three-and-half month long
Eco Retreat festival will be organised at the picture-perfect 8-km long
Pentha beach within Bhitarkanika National Park from November 15, 2021 to March 1, 2022 by the
tourism department.
Fifteen
luxury tents will be pitched for tourists with each tent having water, power supply and parking facilities. Cultural festivals, food festivals and trekking in the nearby mangrove forest will be made available to visitors, said Niranjan Behera, sub-collector (Kendrapada), at a review meeting in Pentha on Monday.
Last year, the tourism department organised a three-month-long eco-retreat festival from December 1 to February 28 at Nalitapatia village near Bhitrakanika.
Soon online booking for tents will start for the festival. The camp will be contiguous with the mangrove forests, said Himalaya Tripathy, the district tourist officer.
The festival will generate income for locals. A photo exhibition, seminar-cum- exhibition of films on Bhitarkanika and other wildlife will be organised during the 106-day-long festival, added the officer.
